Francis and Frances

A 'Francis' is a male follower of Pope Francis.  A 'Frances' is a female follower.  The boy in this picture is called a 'Francis'.  The girl is called a 'Frances'.  Notice that the children are wearing their birth colors: blue for boys and red for girls.  Pope Francis wears a white robe.  The arrangement of these 3 colors resemble the flag of France.  This country is associated with the name 'Francis'.

Aside from speaking English and Spanish, Pope Francis also speaks the 3 languages of Switzerland: French, German, and Italian.  French was a universal European language.  English is a language of German origin.  Italian is the language of Roman Catholicism.  From its literal name, Roman refers to anything that originated from Rome (the capital of Italy).
